There are two types of Instacart shoppers; Full service and In-store shoppers. We’ll focus primarily on Full-service shoppers as they are responsible for shopping and taking groceries to the customer’s doorstep. 

Once a shopper opens the Instacart app, they’ll see a list of orders and their batch amount, which includes the base pay and tips. 

They can either swipe to accept the order or skip it. Depending on the mileage, how much the order is, and the total items in that order, that will tell the shopper if they want to accept the job or not.

Shoppers that are living in states like California, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, and other busy cities receive higher pay. You’ll hear some shoppers say they’re  making $11 an hour ($7 base and $4 in tips) or some that are making $18 per hour ( $7 base and $11 in tips)
